The Children Ready to Enter School Committee comprises childcare providers, early-childhood teachers, Parents As Teachers, Head Start early educators, and parents.  This committee focuses on quality, trained childcare providers, children ready for school, and parents aware of their preschoolers' resources.  Activities sponsored by the Children Ready to Enter School Committee are "Silly Saturday" Early Childhood Resource Fair and other early childhood projects.

Silly Saturday

Silly Saturday is an Early Childhood Resource Fair is an annual event each year during the Week of the Young Child held at the Black River Coliseum. This is a free event for young children and their parents. This event has information on child care services, activities, nutrition, children’s fitness, healthcare, children’s safety, and early literacy. There will be games and entertainment, and the first 400 children to attend receive a free book!

Building Blocks/Nurse-Family Partnership (BB/NFP) helps pregnant women be the best mom to be to their child. Building Blocks/Nurse-Family Partnership is a FREE home visiting program to help guide pregnant women through their pregnancy until their child's second birthday. The counties served are Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Dunklin, Mississippi, New Madrid, Perry, Scott, St. Genevieve, Stoddard, and Pemiscot.
